Stevens Cranberry | Native Ground Cover with Tart Fall Berries
Watch these low-growing native vines carpet your bog garden or wet areas with glossy evergreen leaves and jewel-toned berries. Cranberries are creeping shrubs with slender stems that trail along the ground, reaching up to 7 feet long but only 2-8 inches tall.
These hardy perennials thrive in acidic, boggy conditions where other plants struggle. The tart, bright red berries ripen in fall - perfect for sauce, baking, drying, and holiday traditions. Their evergreen foliage and creeping habit make them excellent ground cover for acidic wetland edges, rain gardens, or specially prepared bog beds.
Cranberries need consistent moisture and very acidic soil (pH 4.0-5.5). Plant in full sun for best fruit production. These native plants support pollinators with spring blooms and provide winter interest with persistent berries and foliage.
