You want a nut that looks and cracks and tastes like the walnuts you buy in the store only grown regeneratively?
Enter the English walnut tree.
These beautiful, cold hardy shade trees produce sweet, easy to crack nuts. They also produce less juglone than black walnuts so if the only place to grow a tree on your property is near your garden, the English walnut is probably your best bet.
If you have both black and English walnut trees on your property, compare the smell of the leaves. You'll probably find that the English walnut has a more refined citrusy smell than the black walnut.
Plant at least two trees for heavier yields.
English walnuts cannot be shipped to MO, KS, IN, MI IA, NE, MN.
