*Ships in Nov/Dec or March-May as *8-12" inch cuttings for rooting unless otherwise noted. Simply place upright into the soil, keep moist, and allow to root.
Red twig dogwood is one of the toughest shrubs around. It will grow in very saturated soil and deal with periodic flooding with ease.
For quick cover and browse for white-tails it can't be beat. Blue berries in the fall feed birds, and the leaves feed various caterpillars and birds.
But tough and useful doesn't mean ugly. When the leaves fall, bright red stems shine throughout the winter, perfect for winter arrangements and wreaths. The long flexible stems have traditionally been used for basketry, hence the name, "red osier (basketry) dogwood."
This is a great shrub for creating a wildlife paradise, hunting hotspot or crafter's dream!
*Note, wildlife red osier is a somewhat darker color than the improved, brighter version.
Simply place cutting upright into the soil until only 2-3 buds are showing, keep moist, and wait for roots to grow.
Hardiness zone: 3-9
Mature height: 10 ft.
